Use this page when installing, replacing, or initially charging equipment that contains refrigerant at any University of Kentucky owned or operated facility. Reporting is required for equipment that contains more than 5 pounds of refrigerant. Most household-style refrigerators and window air conditioning units do not meet this threshold. Information submitted through this form helps the University maintain required equipment records, track refrigerant charges, manage leaks, and demonstrate compliance with EPA refrigerant regulations.
When placing refrigerant-containing equipment into service:
Ensure all refrigerant work is performed by an EPA-certified technician.
Prevent refrigerant releases during installation. Only unavoidable, minimal losses are acceptable.
Follow the University of Kentucky HVAC Design Standards.
Gather the required equipment information, including refrigerant type and refrigerant charge.
Complete and submit the installation form below.
