Information for Educators Educator Lesson Plans and Resources

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) offers a variety of K-12 water related lesson plans that can be used as is or adapted to a college level audience: . USEPA also offers tools to explore local water issues and engage students with water resource information specific to their location. Use their How’s my Waterway tool to explore local water issues. 

The USEPA also offers a variety of educator tools and resources through their Soak Up the Rain program. This program focuses on the science behind and benefits of green infrastructure for stormwater management. These resources can be accessed at: .

The United Stated Geologic Survey (USGS) has developed their Water Science School to share a variety of educator resources that would be appropriate for use with a wide range of audiences for formal and informal education related to stormwater and water resources in general.

The State of Kentucky offers a variety of stormwater and water resource related lesson plans and teacher resources. The most comprehensive repository of educator resources can be found through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Stormwater School Curriculum and Teacher Resources page: 

The University of Kentucky has multiple educators across campus that are trained and certified in the Project WET curriculum. Project WET has many lesson plans tailored for youth water resource education. These lesson plans can be readily adapted to college or professional audiences.
