Annual Reports

In order to demonstrate compliance with the MS4 Permit, the University is required to submit an Annual Report to the Kentucky Division of Water (KDOW) outlining its efforts to protect stormwater and accomplish the tasks and measurable goals set forth in our Stormwater Quality Management Plan (SWQMP). The MS4 Permit requires that this system-wide report be submitted no later than April 15^th of each year.

The permit has specific requirements as to what information must be included in each Annual Report and permittees are encouraged to utilize KDOW’s General Permit Annual Compliance Report form which is provided each year. At a minimum, each report must include the following:

• An overall evaluation of the stormwater quality management program including:
  • Major findings such as water-quality improvements or degradation
  • Major accomplishments
  • Overall program strengths and weaknesses
  • Future direction of the program
  • An assessment of the effectiveness of the SWQMP
• The number of illicit discharges discovered and their resolution
• A summary of inspections and enforcement actions for regulatory programs
• A summary of installed BMPs for post-construction stormwater management for new and redevelopment
• A summary of pollution prevention and good housekeeping BMPs performed
• The status of implementation and proposed changes to the SWQMP including assessment of controls and specific improvements or degradation to water quality
• Any improvements in water quality due to watershed activities

To ensure all required information is provided, the University utilizes KDOW’s form to complete the Annual Report. As tasks and measurable goals are accomplished throughout the year, records are maintained as Evidence of Completion. This documentation is attached to the report form as Appendices.
